How does Spinal Decompression work?
Spinal Decompression creates a negative pressure inside the spinal disc. This effect causes the disc to pull the herniation back inside. This will decrease the pressure on the spinal cord and disc that is causing the pain in the lower back and down the leg. This negative pressure also causes and increase in blood flow and nutrition to the disc to facilitate the body's natural healing ability. This decompressive force also will stimulate Type II Collagen fibers which will strengthen the outer disc thus preventing future injury.
How Long are Spinal Decompression Treatments?
Each visit to Cynergy Chiropractic Center will last between 30-50 minutes. The complete course of care generally ranges from 6-10 weeks depending on the severity,chronicity and extent of each individuals condition. We expect to see results between 20-30 visits to our clinic.
Do most patients Receive other types of therapy in addition to Spinal Decompression Treatments?
We also treat our patients using a technique called Chiropractic Biopysics. Our patients may also need other forms of traction in addition to Spinal Decompression therapy that will assist in restoring the spine back to it's optimal position. Which conditions are contraindicated for Spinal Decompression?
Spinal Decompression therapy is not recommended for persons that have severe osteoarthritis or are severely obese. Pregnant women and persons with nerve damage should also be excluded. Spinal surgery with hardware is also a contraindication for this therapy.
